CLAYTON BROTHERS
The Clayton Brothers
grew up in Aurora, Colorado. Rob and Christian Clayton graduated from
Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California in 1988 / 1991 (BFA
with Honors). They also now serve on the faculty at Art Center College
both teaching painting and illustration. In 1997 They decided to combine
their visions of luck, fate, and the obsessive.
Clayton Brothers art collaborations include an array of diverse clients
and media such as conceptual designers for 20th Century Fox motion picture,
"Monkey Bone" 1999. Art Direction for Reactor Films, Oasis video, "All
Around the World" 1997. Weiden & Kennedy; client: MGD Beer national print
and television campaign 1998. Weiden & Kennedy; client: Barq’s Root Beer
national print and television campaign 1997. Fox Sports Television commercials
for baseball play-offs 2002. Rhythm & Hues, "Max the Dog" animation test
1999. They have produced ad campaign posters for BBH London; client: Ginsters
food products European print campaign 2001-2002. BETC EURO RSCG; client:
Cartier Paris limited edition box set of 7 tarot cards for Cartier Fragrances
print and packaging worldwide 2002-2003. Goodby & Silverstein & Partners;
client: Specialized Race Bikes U.S. print campaign 2000. Posters for "EXPN
Winter X Games" Aspen 2001 and "Summer X Games" Philadelphia 2002.
Other print clients include; The House of Blues, Nike, and Levis. Editorial
clients include; Time, Rolling Stone, Texas Monthly, Surfer, Bloomberg,
Newsweek, The New Yorker, Los Angeles Times, Entertainment Weekly, Art
Week, GQ U.S., London, & Japan....
In 1997 "Oh La La", a Canadian television program made a feature documentary
on the brothers and their fine art work. They have also been featured
on CNN News U.S, Step By Step a design publication, Juxtapoz art publication,
International Tattoo Magazine, and American Illustration. Rob and Christian
have been guest lecturers for Otis Parsons Los Angeles, Cal. State University
Long Beach, University of Southern California, Santa Barbara Museum, Shariden
College Ontario, Canada, and "Breakout", with noted artists Robert Williams,
Mark Ryden, and Eric White.
Now based in Los Angeles, California, Rob and Christian are painters /
image makers who exhibit their work in galleries. They are currently working
on an autobiographical book of their work as individual artists (Rob Clayton,
Christian Clayton) and as the Clayton Brothers, entitled "The Most Special
Day of My Life" due out this Spring 2003. Their work can be found in
various art culture books such as; Blab: A Literary visual critique, Taboo:
Art of the Tiki, Rolling Stone: The Illustrated Portraits, 21st Century
Dog: A Visionary Compendium. They have acquired an extensive list of collectors:
