SHEPARD FAIREY

Born in South Carolina, Fairey is the one-man militia behind the decade-long, mocking and oft copied, "Obey Giant" street campaign, featuring and omnipresent Andre the Giant. As early as 1991 he started his own graphic studio (Alternate Graphics) and later received his B.F.A from the Rhode Island School of Design (92'). Fairey is at the forefront of a generation of artists who show their work in galleries and still keep their roots as 'street artists.' His propaganda has been proliferated through over 100 art shows in some of the worlds most prestigious galleries and museums, not to mention via stickers, clothing, skateboards, posters, stencil-based graffiti and even documentary films.
