JILL FRIEMARK

Originally from the Windy City of Chicago, Jill Friemark came to seek her fortune in the dry desert wasteland of Los Angeles. Upon her arrival, the open arms of the Disney Feature Animation Studio embraced her with its lovingly suffocating 3 year grip in Clean-Up Animation and Visual Development. To this day, she still refers to the studio as Mother, and its influence on her artwork has been inescapable. After wreaking complete havoc in an attempt to wrestle free from her initial 5 year deathgrip, she was amazingly released and allowed to go on her way to search for more creative possibilities. Jill's next studio adventure was with the infinitely comfortable Nickelodeon Studios, where she did design work on Chalkzone and The Fairly Oddparents. Along the way, she managed to stumble across the sleazy sweatshops of the fashion industry, creating character designs and graphics with various Adobe programs for T-shirts, shoe tags, accessories and more. Somehow managing to stay afloat in this seething cess pool, she created the cute and deadly little perkigoth character "Scary Miss Mary." The character's success landed her a chance to create a comic book revolving around the character and her world. The comic book was quickly picked up and distributed by Diamond. The comic and accompanying product line has been listed in Previews Magazine and subsequently sold worldwide. Additionally, Jill has created several successful designs for Skechers, Hot Topic, Alloy and Delia's stores. She is also the official artist of the annual gothic Disneyland day, "Bats Day in the Fun Park."

Even though she enjoys this kind of work, the animation industry is where her heart is, and where it will stay forever. At the moment, Jill is character designer for Rob Renzetti and Fred Films' "My Life as a Teenage Robot," surrounded by incredibly talented artists and like-minded creators. Here she is at home. Her personal projects include journeying to Poland to do some reasearch on an animated feature concept, a couple of ideas for television animation pitches, and the gathering of strength for a new comic book and childrens' storybook venture.
