Alex Kirwan's childhood home in Duluth, Minnesota was filled with antique toys, dog-eared books about monster movies, and many dozens of 16 millemeter animated cartoons. Alex's teen age attempts to rebel against his environment ultimately failed, and shortly after graduating from art high-school he ventured to Los Angeles to find his place in the animation industry. In the five years since he has contributed both as a storyboard artist and designer on shows including Oh Yeah Cartoons, Chalk Zone, Time Squad, and he is currently art directing Nickelodeon's My Life as a Teenage Robot with his friend and collaborator Rob Renzetti. Alex has also taught a course in character design for animation for the last three years at Cal Arts. The rest of Alex's free time is spent attempting to recreate the environment he grew up in. |
